Boundless CFX Vaporizer VS Volcano Mighty Vaporizer
The Boundless CFX vaporizer and the Volcano Mighty vaporizer are often compared due to there almost identical features, The Volcano mighty was first released in late 2015 and was the pinnacle of portable vaporizers in its time. A lot has changed since with technology getting better by the day. Have years of technology advancements effected the Mighty and have the newer portable vaporizers made this a dinosaur in comparison. The Boundless CFX vaporizer is a doppelganger of the mighty, but is from the newer breed of portable vaporizers so I thought a comparison was in order to see how the two compare against each other. The Volcano Mighty still holds its weight in the vape market selling for nearly twice the price of the Boundless CFX, so let’s see how this new kid on the block fares against the OG of portable vaporizers.
In this comparison, I will compare the features of the two against each other, what one has got and the other hasn’t, what materials have been used in the construction and of course how they perform.
Build Quality and Design
Both vaporizers are made from plastic and both vaporizers feel sturdy with no rattles or shakes, the buttons feel strong enough to take some abuse and are similarly placed on both vapes.
The boundless CFX vaporizer has been coated in a soft to touch rubber that has an added ribbed design providing a good grip and feels nice in the hand, finished in a matte black colour and gloss black mouthpiece with a large 1.7 inch crisp and clear OLED display on the side of the unit giving the user all the information needed.
The Volcano Mighty has a hard-plastic smooth outside exterior with a ribbed inner it is finished in matte black completely with a 1 inch LED screen located on side also giving you the info needed for your vaporizer.
Size and Weight
- The Boundless CFX vaporizer size is 12.5cm x 6.5cm x 3cm, weighing 207 grams.
- The Volcano Mighty vaporizer size is 14cm x 8cm x 3cm, weighing 230 grams.
When it comes to a portable vaporizer size is important, however both these Vaporizers are in my opinion too large to carry in your pocket and would probably end up in a bag for transportation anyway, but when it comes to weight, and you end up holding the vape a lot this can be a deciding factor. Looking at the stats, the Boundless CFX is the clear winner.
Temperature settings and Heating
Both vape units have a precise adjustable temperature function being able to set your vaporizer from similar temperature ranges (Mighty - 104°F to 410°F, CFX - 100°F to 430°F) but when it comes down to heat up times the Boundless CFX Vaporizer is clearly in the lead reaching your desired temperature within 25-30 seconds, while the Volcano Mighty vaporizer is playing catch up taking twice the amount of time at 60-90 seconds. They both use a mixture of convection and conduction and both have a memory function to remember your last used setting.
Both of these portable vapes are very much the same in this category, but once again the Boundless CFX vaporizer has the edge with its heat up time being considerably faster than the Volcano Mighty vaporizer.
The two vaporizers are very similar when it comes to how they operate, they both hold the same characteristics of chamber design, isolated airpath and straw mouth-piece, however the CFX’s chamber is much bigger compared to the Mighty holding easily double the amount. They are both able to vape dry herbs and concentrates although the Volcano Mighty vaporizer performs its task slightly better with little to no draw resistance present compared to the Boundless CFX vaporizer that suffers from some slight draw resistance, and the Mighty produces cooler and slightly smoother vapor.
This round goes to the Volcano Mighty vaporizer with the fact the draw is easier going than that of the Boundless CFX vaporizer and the vapor just comes through smoother despite having similar design characteristics.
Battery life and charging
- The Boundless CFX vaporizer holds two non-replaceable, rechargeable Li-Ion batteries totalling 2500mAh this will give the user an average of 10-15 sessions per full charge. You have the option of charging your CFX by USB or DC Outlet.
- The Volcano Mighty vaporizer also holds two non-replaceable Li-Ion batteries totalling 2600mAh this will give the user an average of 8-10 sessions per full charge. The Mighty uses a DC outlet for charging with no option for USB.
This round goes to the Boundless CFX vaporizer for its extra amount of sessions and the ability to be recharged via USB.
- The CFX has the following additional features: Auto Shut Off Timer (shown on the OLED display), Vibration Alerts, Temperature Memory and a Battery Indicator (shown on the OLED display)
- The Mighty has the following additional features: Auto Shut Off, Temperature Memory and a Battery Indicator (Shown on the LCD display.)
Both Vaporizers come with a two-year warranty.
They both have two years’ warranty so it’s a draw.
Let’s face it the key to a good vaporizer is really based on its performance and despite all of the winning traits the Boundless CFX vaporizer has it just doesn’t perform as good as the Volcano Mighty vaporizer, so if money is no Issue the Mighty is surely the obvious choice. However, the CFX is considerably cheaper and if you are on a budget, the CFX is by no means a bad choice. Its full of features and even though it lacks on its performance compared to the Mighty it’s a good vaporizer that is well worth its price tag.
